Each year since 2007, the Children’s and Young Adult Literature blogger community has presented awards (CYBILS) to authors and illustrators “whose books combine the highest literary merit and ‘kid appeal.’” When asked to explain, the CYBILS team responds, “If some la-di-dah awards can be compared to brussel sprouts, and other, more populist ones to gummy bears, we’re thinking more like organic chicken nuggets. We’re yummy and nutritious.”
The committee has just added a category for book apps and they’re looking for judges. Who is eligible? “Anyone who contributes regularly to a blog about any aspect of children’s or young adult literature. Regularly pretty much means at least once a month or so, but there are always exceptions.”
There are a few other requirements and an application form to fill out, but that’s all explained on the CYBIL website. Hurry, though. The deadline to apply is September 15.
